A new recycling and waste service is to be introduced from Monday 12th June. The East Devon District Council Waste & Recycling Team, has announced that this new service will mean that residents can now collect more recycling than ever before as these materials will be collected every week, along with food waste, from the kerbside by their appointed contractors. In addition, this will include cardboard, plastics, cartons/Tetra Paks and small electrical items for recycling. As residents will be recycling more every week, non-recyclable items (grey wheeled waste bins) will be collected every three weeks.
Within correspondence sent to Clyst Hydon Parish Council of this new scheme, East Devon Council stated that “This service has already been successfully introduced within Exmouth where, within the first six weeks, householders were recycling almost 60% of their waste – a 15% increase in recycling.”
