Under an initiative started by the Clyst Hydon Parish Council, it is proposed that a Village Plan is developed to take into account the views of the whole community. The first step of developing this plan is consultation, part of which is this questionnaire. The questionnaire aims to capture your views on how you would like to see Clyst Hydon develop as well as prioritise the allocation of funds. The analysis of this work will be used to set objectives for the Parish Council for the next 5 years. It will also be used to form the basis of a Neighbourhood Plan which, when approved by the East Devon District Council, will enable the community to be able to better control the future of Clyst Hydon; specifically on planning and development.
As you may know, your Parish Council is an elected body in the first tier of local government. They play a vital part in representing the interests of the community they serve and improving the quality of life and the local environment. Furthermore they influence other decision makers and can, in many cases, deliver services to meet local needs. Central Government is encouraging local councils to deliver more services and play a greater part in their communities. For example the Parish Council could provide or give financial support to activities within the parish, such as:
- redecorating the village hall
- a youth club
- a summer festival
- equipment for a children’s activity group
- help with cutting the grass verges
Projects like these may be a challenge and need hard work and commitment – but they are achievable. The council is made up of elected or co-opted representatives who volunteer their time. They are there to represent your views so it makes sense that they work to an agreed plan.
It is really important that we get the views of everyone. We would really appreciate it if you could take the time to provide your views by completing the questionnaire and return it by 30 September 2017 to:
Chris Jones, Heronsyke, Clyst Hydon, Devon, EX15 2ND
Alternatively, you can email a copy of your responses to firstname.lastname@example.org
All responses will be treated in confidence.
Thank you for your cooperation,
Iain Stewart – Parish Councillor
